Lai-Mu worker praises investment: ”Our company invested in the removal of welding fumes

”You could see the difference on the very first day. The indoor air became cleaner and fresher. I would never have thought that those machines were so efficient,” said welder Markus Roininen.

He was talking about the welding fume removal system that had been installed at Lai-Mu’s welding shop three weeks earlier.

”Every now and then we are asked for wishes. Common opinion has been that otherwise all is well, if only we could get cleaner air. It’s great that the company invested in this. It’s even more pleasant to work here now. If you didn’t know, you might think there has been no welding going on at all,” said Roininen.

However, he had just stopped welding for this interview. At the same time, other workers were still continuing their work on the welding shop.

”Earlier you could see the fumes with your eyes, but now it’s much brighter.
Another improvement is that the air circulates better now. You always sweat when you’re doing this kind of work,” said Roininen.

The extraction and filtration system purchased by Lai-Mu is based on indoor air recirculation. As a result, the company saves some money on heating costs. On a small scale, this can be seen as green transition, using renewable electricity instead of fuel oil.

”However, the investment was made with the well-being of the employees in mind, and the rest is a plus,” emphasised CEO Markus Miekanmaa.

The total cost of the investment was around 100,000 euros. It requires more
planning and adaptation when modifications are made to an existing factory.

Miekanmaa is very satisfied when the impact of the investment made can be felt so clearly. Less smoke, better work comfort. ”Our product collection is in order” Lai-Mu’s turnover has grown significantly in the year that is coming to an end.

”I am looking confidently to 2025. We expect appropriate growth”, Miekanmaa summed up the company’s outlook for the near future.

On what does the CEO base his optimism?

”We have a good product collection. It gives us a solid foundation. There is
always a demand for our work machines. This need will only increase as
there will be more built urban environment in the future. That means more
space to maintain. We have interesting projects going on in different countries,” said Miekanmaa.

The familiar diesel-powered machines have been delivered at a steady
pace in 2024. Expectations are high for new electric machines, which have
been presented at international trade fairs in countries such as Sweden, the
UK, the Netherlands, France, Serbia and Germany.

The tower of the Plymovent system sucks in air and blows it up when cleaned. Welder Markus Roininen thanked Managing Director Markus Miekanmaa for his focus on job satisfaction.
